Smart Taps
Inventor extraordinaire Norm Ladson, has designed a new M & F brass Y pipe fitting. The Add-a-Tap screws in where your tap is, then you screw two taps at 45deg and 135deg. to give you two main connected water hose bib taps.

This enables a hose tap to be connected to one outlet and the sprinkler system to be installed permanently on the other outlet. With one tap it’s a major job just to get water from the tap if you have a sprinkler system or a timer connected to the hose tap.

The plastic Twin Taps, on the hose tap end, jam and on/off switches break and leak. With Add-A-Tap you have two brass taps that will never leak or break. Add-A-Tap, RRP $9.95. It’s cable tied on a card for retail sales as are all Ladco products.

Three new releases from TOPS
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Ritzy'
Put on the ritz and put on your sunglasses because the latest new release from TOPS - Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Ritzy' is a real dazzler. Bearing vibrant orange flowers this showy performer is a must for the open garden and is equally at home as a container feature on a well-lit patio or verandah. It can add a riot of colour in pots around pools, BBQs and other entertainment areas.
'Ritzy' flowers abundantly from October right through to May, particularly in gardens on the eastern seaboard. Like all hibiscus, it needs to be kept moist. It flowers profusely in partly-shaded areas and can also tolerate full sun. Ritzy grows to about one metre high x 700mm wide.

Russelia 'Tangerine Falls'
The ruby was stunning, the lemon exquisite. Yet those who've seen this vibrant new release from Tropical Ornamental Plant Supplies say it's the pick of the bunch. The real beauty of 'Tangerine Falls' is the fact that it is so hardy and prolific and is sure to turn heads. It can also withstand protracted dry periods in partly-shaded areas in gardens, pots and terraces, and even in full sun.
TOPS describe this attractive accent shrub as small-to-medium in size, growing quickly to a manageable height of around a metre.
This robust Russelia flowers prolifically from spring through summer and well into autumn. A long term performer, it will flourish for years in gardens south of Sydney and all the way to Cairns in north Queensland. It thrives particularly well in the tropics yet will still wow them in Wollongong.

Pseuderanthemum Moon Dancer 'Truly Romantic'
For those looking for something more subtle than Ritzy, the TOPS group has just introduced Pseuderanthemum 'Moon Dancer', a delightful new plant producing abundant displays of beautiful delicate mauve-blue flower spikes above lush deep green foliage.
This stunning Pseuderanthemum averages 400mm in width and grows to a maximum height of around 750mm. It flowers prolifically right through the summer months, although TOPS advise caution the further south you live.
'Moon Dancer is a moderately hardy, long-term plant that thrives in most well-drained soils. It prefers full sun to partial shade.

Debco potting mixes for retail garden centres
Following 18 months of development and extensive customer research, the Debco company has announced the release of a new range of packaged potting mixes designed especially for retail garden centres.

"Customer research has demonstrated that customers don't understand the differences between potting mixes and often choose a cheap mix that won't give them the results they want," said Debco MD Patrick Kasso.

The new range features a bright modern look that is guaranteed to grab the customer's attention in a busy retail environment. High quality images are used on all the pack designs to help reinforce the specific application. The packaging also lets customers know what else is included in the mix.

Most of the mixes include SaturAid lawn, pot and garden water maximiser, Green Jacket controlled release fertiliser and Water-storing crystals. The Australian Standard Certification logo is clearly depicted on the bags, together with quality pictorial instructions.

The new Debco range offers strong dollar margins and a point of difference for retail garden centres. It follows the successful re-launch of the Green Wizard range late last year and joins the Debco family of gardening products including potting mixes, fertilisers, water savers, soil conditioners, mulches and composts.
